Movin' on Out!


As most of you know we are changing directions here soon to go to Vietnam! We had a few things we had to check off before that would be a possibility. One of them was finding someone to live in our house. We had been praying for God to provide someone to take our lease and our land lady told us she had someone who was interested in seeing the house. Of course he had to come by the day we were super sick and he had about a million questions. Im am thinking to myself "please hurry up before I puke all over you sir." Fortunately I was able to answer all his questions( without puking) and he decided to take over the contract! Such an answer to prayer. 


Unfortunately, we cannot seem to get better. I am still having allergy symptoms and very itchy hands and feet. Sunday night Brandon woke up out of his sleep with not just one, but both of his knees hurting which was obviously concerning. We have decided to stay in Chiang Mai for the next couple of days to have him rest his knees and have the option to take him back to the doctor if needed. Hopefully we will continue to recover from these ailments, it has been hard to be 28 and feel like you are 100 years old and falling apart! 

We have definitely had some hard moments of asking God why is this happening to us and what the purpose of all this is. It is hard not to have thoughts like what if we never get better or what if Brandon's knee goes out and he can't walk? It has been mentally taxing at times and worrisome, but each time we start to question our circumstances we are reminded of God's faithfulness. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He is with us always and He is working all things together for our good! James 1:2 says, "Count it all joy my brothers when you meet trials of various kinds"....what a strange concept. Why in the world would I want to be happy when things are not going well for me?! Well he goes on to say, "... for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness and let steadfastness have its full effect that you may be perfect and complete lacking in nothing." We must cling to Him through every circumstance continuing to depend on and trust in Him. The world around us could be crumbling, but one thing will always remain the same and that is Him. We have already seen God working through these trials and through it all we have found joy! Not only is our relationship with God growing stronger, our relationship with each other is also being strengthened. I am very blessed to have Brandon as my husband. He continues to lead us, always pointing us to prayer and scripture when we feel discouraged. So while we have had a bit of a rough patch here lately we know the Lord has and will continue to use it for our good! Thank you for your continued prayers and support! We love you!

As many of you know we have been constantly praying for God to lead us where we can most effectively serve Him and bring Him glory. So far God has sent us to Thailand, Vietnam, and Japan! We have been so blessed to have been a part of so many different ministry opportunities over the last 8 months and to have seen and experienced God working all over Asia. We have learned so much, not only about ministry, but about ourselves. This trip has challenged us in many ways, growing us in our relationship with God and each other. Tokyo Update

Happy Late Thanksgiving!  We are so happy we were able to spend Thanksgiving in Japan. It has been so fun continuing to build friendships with the missionaries at Hope Alive. On Thanksgiving day everyone came together and we met many missionaries from around Tokyo, most of whom we had not yet met. We had traditional Thanksgiving dishes which was amazing, my favorite being the broccoli and cheese casserole. I usually would not be so exited about the broccoli and cheese casserole, but it was the best I have ever eaten in my entire 28 years on earth. Also, the missionaries who usually make the turkey were not here this year and none of the other people felt confident to make one. They solved this problem by getting Emily (she is 26 and has cooking experience) to make it! At one point I found Brandon and Emily laughing historically not knowing if it was cooked or how to cut it. Christmas in Japan!

     Japan has been so amazing during this winter season. Oddly the Japanese love the Christmas season. The decorations are everywhere and the city feels so magical. Because of their love for the season, it is a great opportunity to have events at the church to draw new people in. We had a Christmas party with the young adults where we ate dinner, decorated cookies, and played dirty Santa. It was a great turn out and we had so much fun with our new friends that came. This party drew in new people and great conversations. One man asked us some good questions about why we celebrated Christmas and how it was different from how other people celebrated the holidays. This gave us a great opportunity to share the true reason for Christmas and the gospel! Many sat in and listened to our conversation, captivated by the discussion.      Our time in Japan has been filled with several conversations like these, with people who admit to being unbelievers, but still want to learn and hang out with us
