The Plague

The last 10 days have been wild let me tell ya. I came down with some sort of sickness which had me out for a week. It started as a low-grade fever, but then turned into nausea, vomiting, headache, muscle pain, amongst others. I had an hour of being somewhat stable followed by a couple hours of complete misery (not to be dramatic). After the first 2 days we began to get concerned that I was dehydrated and my fever was gradually climbing. So at 103 we decided it was time to make our first trip to the emergency room. We arrived at around 5am and I was the only patient there praise God! For some reason people think I am Asian so with my mask on the nurse, Wesit ( wee-sit), asks me what I am there for in Thai. Of course he is surprised when I ask if he speaks English which thankfully he does! He takes my vitals where he establishes my high fever, blood pressure, and pulse and then he walked me back to a room filled with many hospital beds. They laid me down and the doctor came in very promptly. She listened to my symptoms and diagnosed me with a stomach infection. At this point I didn't really care what she diagnosed me with I just wanted an IV, Zofran, and Tylenol. They drew my labs and then started my drip which took 2 hours. It was the fastest two hours of my life. When it was done they whisked me away, I wish I could have stayed longer. I did feel better after the IV, but not long after we got home I started feeling bad again. A day later my fever broke and it took a few days after that to really get going again.

On Saturday we were able to welcome home a friend who had been in the states for 6 weeks. It was great to see her and she brought us lots of goodies that we had ordered off amazon! We are happy to have her back! Sunday we went to Promise Church in the morning and then attended an international church that evening. This was great as we were surrounded by other Americans and it felt very similar to church back home. After church there was a potluck/wedding reception so you know we stayed for that! We met some cool people and hopefully will be able to connect with them again soon.

Sunday night it all went to crap again...literally. Brandon has come down with the same thing I had. It was a rough night for him and seems like an even rougher afternoon. Thankfully he is sleeping now and can hopefully get some rest. He has all the same symptoms and I am watching his fever and water intake. This sickness completely wiped me out for a full week and I know it has the possibility of doing the same for him. Please pray for Brandon that God would heal his body and this bug would run its course fast! Please pray that his fever would stay low and that he would be able to keep liquids down. Even though the hospital was a pleasant experience we really do not want to go back! Thank you all for praying for us!

Love,  Mallory
