The Plague

The last 10 days have been wild let me tell ya. I came down with some sort of sickness which had me out for a week. It started as a low-grade fever, but then turned into nausea, vomiting, headache, muscle pain, amongst others. I had an hour of being somewhat stable followed by a couple hours of complete misery (not to be dramatic). After the first 2 days we began to get concerned that I was dehydrated and my fever was gradually climbing. So at 103 we decided it was time to make our first trip to the emergency room. We arrived at around 5am and I was the only patient there praise God! For some reason people think I am Asian so with my mask on the nurse, Wesit ( wee-sit), asks me what I am there for in Thai. Of course he is surprised when I ask if he speaks English which thankfully he does! He takes my vitals where he establishes my high fever, blood pressure, and pulse and then he walked me back to a room filled with many hospital beds. They laid me down and the docto...

August Update

Hello Everyone ,      I hope this letter reaches you well. While our regularly scheduled monsoon hit this afternoon, I figured it a great time to give you all an update. Mallory and I are doing great here in Chiangmai. It has started to feel like our second home, as we have gotten a good feel on the best little markets to eat at, and where to find the best produce in the mornings. We have even joined a small Pickleball club, and are hoping to grow some relationships with both foreigners(Farang) and Thai's. We are still attending the same church connected to the school, and we have grown some great relationships there. The church is still very young and there is a need for growth, leadership, and discipleship. All that being said, there is no lack of love and commitment to the Lord!       We have made a small shift in our roles at the school, from full time teaching to subbing and helping...

Summertime

We have a lot to catch you up on! June 16th was Brandons 28th birthday! We had a party at our house and had Brandons favorite, gumbo! I also made fried rice just in case the Thai friends did not like the gumbo, but it seemed like everyone liked it! They made him a printed out birthday card, framed picture, hand made coasters, and bought him a Thai shirt! It was the sweetest thing ever. We had so much fun fellowshipping with them, our stomachs hurt from laughing so hard. Some of Brandon's students brought him a sweet treat to school and it was so sweet and thoughtful!  Pictured: X, Namhorn, Omsin      A couple days after Brandons birthday they wanted to take us to Doi Suthep. This is a giant mountain which is famous for the view of Chiang Mai below and has a very big temple at the top. At first it was just going to be a few of us, but then it turned into Brandon driving a bunch of Thai women up the giant mountain in the school's bus. Brandon...

Dear Crosspoint

Dear Crosspoint,      We can't believe it has been 3 months since we began this journey. We are continually blown away by the love and support that you all gave us on our commissioning Sunday. Glory to God! Since then we have certainly had our ups and downs, but God has remained faithful just as He promises. We are so thankful for each and everyone of you. We received all of your letters and, WOW, what an encouragement they were and are to us. Thank you for your commitment to missions, not only by sending us, but by continually praying for us. It is because of your faithfulness to the great commission that we are able to be here in Chiang Mai sharing the good news of Jesus! God is teaching us many things. One of these is to be content in all circumstances. Whether good or bad, we can rest knowing that He will provide us with what we need when we need it. We must continue to be faithful and obey, trusting th...

Urgent Prayer Request!

Hello everyone,     As soon as we got here to Thailand we knew we were going to have problems getting our visa. I'm sure you all remember our visa troubles from Indonesia...We have had the worst time trying to obtain a visa for a longer stay in Thailand and our last chance for the one we really need is tomorrow! I have an appointment with the US Embassy at 8am and seriously I am mentally weary from trying to figure all of this out with language barriers and misinformation. Please pray for us as we go and try to obtain what we THINK will be our last document. We will then have to apply for our visa a couple hours later at Thai Immigration were we will hope and pray that we will make it through all the check marks. We were turned away today which was discouraging. I will keep you updated.  In Christ,           Mallory

School of Promise Update

Image
Hello everyone!  We have a few pictures of our first month here in Thailand. First we have our church called Promise Church. It is still a relatively new church so we are praying God will continue to bring more people to worship with us there. The School of Promise wanted to have a worship service available to its students and the surrounding community, so they added on this building to the school grounds. It also functions as the music room and cafeteria during the week.                     The worlds largest rice cooker (there are about 3 of these)! There are about 150 kids that attend the school. As you can imagine they make quite a lot of rice! They provide us with lunch everyday... sometimes we try new things and other times we go home and eat PB&J. We are trying lots of new foods! Thankfully we were given a motorcycle to borrow while we are here so we do not have to rent one! Such a blessing! Brandon loves this new mode o...
